Stripes and Scales








This is another look from our vacation a few weeks ago. I'm still in the process of adjusting to being back on the daily grind; everyday that I don't wake up on with the sound of the Caribbean outside my window is a hardship.

This dress is another from Mura Boutique that I purchased in anticipation of our trip back in January. I have linked a similar look below. As I stated in my post last week, and I will address again in my review of Catalonia Royal Tulum, the wildlife there is amazing. I am not a huge fan of iguanas, but I did make friends with a few during our trip. The guy shown above is the biggest of all the ones we encountered.

Exotic Floral






We just got back from our vacation at the Catalonia Royal Tulum in Mexico. We had a wonderful time; expect to see my full review of the resort soon. The beach was the most beautiful that I have ever seen and the wildlife at the resort was abundant and friendly!

I purchased the dress above from Mura Boutique (I highly recommend sizing up when shopping at this boutique, I am a US 2/4 and I wear a 8/10 in Australian brands) Unfortunately, my dress is sold out, but I have linked a similar look below under $100.

Also, if I can tell you anything, it's that you NEED these sandals from Old Navy, $17, on trend, comfortable, and perfect for vacation.

Mother's Day is upon us and Nordstrom Rack has amazing gift options at great prices! I really want the Tom Ford sunglasses but my boyfriend said that being a fur mom doesn't really count and doesn't qualify me for a Mother's Day gift (bummer). For those of you who are Mom's (especially my mom) thank you for all you do! I hope you all have a wonderful holiday! (I'd ask for breakfast in bed and a massage!)

That 70's Flare






Flares are trending again and I must admit that I have a love / hate relationship with them. I love how long and lean they make you look, but I hate how long and lean they make me look. Given that I am 5'9, flares and 5 inch wedges make me one tall drink of water, which is nice until you realize you're about 3-6 inches taller than every other person you come in contact with. This situation makes it extra special to have a boyfriend who is well over 6 ft. So, to all you girls who are average height or even short, I envy you. Rock those wedges and flares girl!

A Relaxing Day in the Park





We took our dog Tractor to the park this weekend to enjoy the sunshine and a good book. I wore leopard J. Crew slides, a panama hat, and my favorite Stella & Dot earrings. 

D.C. has amazing parks and Tractor loves to visit them and watch the birds and squirrels. He was sick last weekend, so we were extremely happy that he is 100% healthy and back to his normal self.

The Yards



It was cold again this weekend in D.C. but we did manage to take a stroll through The Yards Park on Sunday. It's a beautiful setting on the Potomac River by the Washington Navy Yard and Nationals Park. I wore one of my typical weekend outfits of jeans and a baseball cap but I was excited to take my new pink sneakers for a stroll. I picked these up from JustFab and I love them.

Floral, Moto, & Fringe


It was beautiful out this weekend but cold. The temperatures were in the forties when we took these pictures and the motorcycle jacket was a must have. I love this one from H&M, super affordable and great quality. I also love this top and jeans from Express, I have a closet full of their jeans. They are comfortable, fit great, last forever and are on sale about once a month for $40.

Spring Refresh: Bags under $50


I spent part of the weekend cleaning the Fall/Winter items out of my closet. It's nice because without all those chunky sweaters and coats I have plenty of room for the new season; my closets actually close! I'm not a big spender when it comes to handbags, I find I get tired of them too quick. As usual, it's mid-month and I've exhausted my shopping budget. #confessionsofashopaholic

Admittedly, I don't feel too bad. I'm dreaming of summer and our upcoming vacation to Tulum. I can't wait to sip a virgin margarita on the roof top patio and enjoy the warm summer nights in the city. Also, you should totally check out these sunglasses, the look of Karen Walker for WAY less. Given that I can't be trusted with $300 sunglasses, nor do I need that kind of responsibility in my life, I'll take the $8 pair and put the remaining $292 to good use.

Current Picks: Target


One of the things I miss most about living in the suburbs is Target. I used to have a Target within a mile from my apartment, now it's a hefty metro ride away. Thankfully, there's a little something called the internet, where I can peruse the aisles anytime. Target doesn't disappoint with the Spring/Summer collection; just look at those studded sandals! The look of Valentino for less, anyone??
